Trapezoidal Thread Collet Chuck: High Rigidity and 5μm Precision

With high rigidity 200Nm super clamping torque and ≤5μm runout high precision characteristics, the HER collet chuck is a high-efficiency tool holder that can be used for heavy cutting and finishing. The clamping torque is 2.3 times larger than the general ER tool holder. The depth of cutting and feeding efficiency can be optimized.

Collet Chuck Torque Comparison: Up to 230% More Clamping Force

The clamping force of HER25 collet chuck is better than heat shrink, single-sided 4° flat shoulder collet and traditional general ER collet system.

Take HER25 as an example: when the inner diameter is 12mm, the clamping force is about 145% larger than the 4° collet, about 130% larger than the general heat shrink, and about 230% larger than the general ER tool holder.

The special structure of the double-length slideway [1] and the trapezoidal screw thread [2] can form the transformation force of penetration and reduce the friction. Therefore, when it’s locking, it can ensure that the nut has a perfect load in the center of the tool holder. There are advantages of high clamping force, high concentricity, and high repeat accuracy. At the same time, the short thread design also saves the time of assembling the tool holder.

Perfect Accuracy: The Structural Design of Our Collet Chuck

Three-point and two-sided clamping: The clamping force is evenly distributed on the tool chuck diameter. The clamping force of the collet chuck series is evenly distributed on the A and B sides. Single-sided clamping: The clamping force is only distributed on the B side. It’s easy for the tool breaking inside the collet and damaging the entire set of tool holders and collets.

Collet Chuck Stability: Three-Point and Two-Sided Clamping

The steel balls are freely distributed and irregular. When they’re rotating at high speed, the imbalance will appear and there will be restrictions on change, resulting in poor accuracy. There will be gaps in the assembly of the nut, and chips will invade from this gap, causing damage to the nut. Or when it’s under continuous using, it will occur to cracking.

FAQ

Product FAQS

What is an HER collet chuck, and how does it differ from a standard ER collet?

An HER collet chuck is a high-rigidity collet tool holder system. Featuring a trapezoidal thread structure and a specialized collet design, it provides greater clamping force and stability compared to traditional ER collets. With its high runout accuracy and exceptional rigidity, it is highly suitable for heavy cutting and high-precision machining.

What collets and tools can be used with an HER collet chuck?

HER Collet Chuck are typically paired with high-precision ER collets (such as ER16, ER20, and ER25). Utilizing high-precision collets enhances machining accuracy and clamping stability. Additionally, it is essential to keep the collet and nut clean and ensure they are properly installed.

Why do tools sometimes slip or experience runout within a collet?

Even with HER high-performance holders, tool slippage or runout can occur due to factors like contaminated collets or holder bores, improper nut installation, worn collets, or using tools outside the collet’s specified range. Regular cleaning, correct installation, and using high-precision collets are recommended.
